“Fear not, for I AM with you” (Isaiah 41:9-10)

The truth about fear – it’s not from God!! Fear comes to steal your peace. It will cause you to doubt God and His Word and it will lie to you. Fear has often said to me “God is not here and He’s not coming to help you” Have you ever heard those whispers? Well the truth is found in our scripture above “Fear not, for I am with you” says the Lord!! So matter what i am feeling, no matter the current situation around me, no matter my pain, or the uncertainty of the days ahead, this is truth I can hold onto. This is truth that grounds me! This truth is certain! God is with me!

When fear comes knocking at the door and says – He’s not really here…are you sure He said He’ll never leave you…He might be with them, but He’s not with you…does it feel like He’s here…you cant see Him…surely He wouldn’t let this happen if He was with you…When fear knocks at the door and lies like that and tries to make you doubt God, doubt the truth, we have a choice – Do i believe this? Do i give in to the feelings? Do i stay in this place of doubt or do i seek the truth? Do i turn to the world or the Word?

Our defence against the lies is the Word of God.

We need to come back to the unchanging, unfailing TRUTH of His Word! This truth has the power to set us free from the enemy’s attack, and his first point of attack will always be to get us to doubt God. Do you remember the Garden? The enemy comes as the serpent and causes Eve to doubt God’s words…”Did God really say that?” (Genesis 3:1) That was fear, knocking on the door of Eve’s heart causing her to doubt God’s Word. And if he can get us to doubt God and take our eyes off the truth, we will begin to loose the reality of God in our heart and soul.

This is also the beginning of a vicious cycle – as our doubts increase, our eyes are taken off God, and as we turn away from God our fear increases and the lies grow and our burdens and struggles weigh heavy upon us as we try and do life on our own. Then we begin to doubt God even more and so the cycle continues…I know, I’ve been there. Have you? Have you heard those doubts? The fear knocking? The lies trying to creep in? Well i can guarantee the only way out is the TRUTH, choosing each day to believe the truth of God’s Word will set you free! And His Word says “Fear not, for I am with you” and we can also read in Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”. So not only is He with us, He will never leave us!! So whatever we are facing today, in these unknown days, God is with us. He knows what the days hold and He will hold us through them – He wont leave us! No matter what! Oh the peace and freedom that brings!
