Something was wrong and I couldn’t work out why. I was washing my hair and yet the shampoo was not lathering up…I know, I can hear you laughing, such a dreadful situation. In all seriousness, this was my favourite shampoo, and it was no longer working as it should. Why would that be?

I looked down at the bottle and revelation hit me like a cold shower. I was actually using the conditioner without even realising. Of course, it didn’t lather up, it was never meant to. It was doing exactly what it was made to do.

Let’s just say I proceeded to wash my hair in the correct order, with pleasing results.

Then I wondered, how often do we go through life with unmet expectations? What if we are expecting something of ourselves, our friends, work mates or family, that we or they were never made to do?
